it's your birthday, have a hot dog...

Yesterday was Stefy's 20th birthday. Hooray! I'm officially not dating a teenager anymore. But seriously, I think Stefy had a pretty great birthday. I went over to her apartment at around 6 yesterday after spending the late afternoon wrapping presents at my place. Tim was already there, so I had Stef go ahead and open my gifts. She really seemed to like the Sarah Jessica Parker perfume, Kate Spade iPod mini case, and Shabby Chic mirror I got her. Of course, I wasn't the only one with the SJP perfume idea, because it was also one of her grandma's presents, and Teri picked up the whole gift set that goes with it. I guess Stefy will be all set for perfume for a while.

Dinner at Bravo was really nice. I was totally famished by the time we got to the restaurant, having just eaten about three Sun Chips all day, so I managed to scarf down most of my gigant-o lasagna. Mmmm. It was mighty tasty though. After dinner we pretty much just came back to Stefy's apartment and called it a night. I think my girl had a pretty nice b-day. I sure hope so, at least.

Anyway, today is my long work day of the week. The new brochures that I designed finally arrived yesterday, so I was receiving lots of compliments about those bad boys. I was pretty pleasantly surprised about how they turned out. Pretty sharp, if I do say so myself.

Tomorrow is the biggest MSU football game of the year against those furry rodents of Ann Arbor Community College. This will be my first time attending the football game against Michigan, and I am totally pumped up for it. In all honesty though, I'm pretty torn right now. I can't decide what will make me happier if MSU wins... the fact that we'll be 5-0 and most likely move into the top-ten, or that we'll be handing U of M their worst starting record since before Bo Schembechler started coaching there. It's tough. Of course, Michigan fans will be annoying loud mouths about the game, win or lose, but all I gotta say is that it's reassuring to know that we'll still have a better record than them, no matter who wins.

FIGHT, FIGHT, RAH TEAM FIGHT! VICTORY FOR M-S-U!

The week from hell is now entering a new phase. My mid-terms are over, and I lived to tell the tale. Honestly, they weren't that bad though. The worst part was actually having to study for them.

Now it's Thursday afternoon, my school week is done, it's my girlfriend's birthday, and the biggest msu football game in years is on saturday... and I'm going. Yep, things are looking up.

Go GREEN!

What a weekend. Well, Stefy and I hit the road for Bloomfield at around 4:30 on Friday afternoon, and we pretty much set out for Art Van with Teri as soon as we got home. Today we were finally getting a chance to go coffee table/ottoman shopping, which was basically my birthday gift from the Spiros. We wandered around the floor at Art Van for a while going back and forth between whether I should pick out a coffee table or get an ottoman. Eventually Stefy convinced me that a nice ottoman was the best way to go, since all I really want is to be able to put my feet up on something, so we picked out a really cool one that I think will match my couch pretty well. After shopping Teri took us back to Bastone in Royal Oak for dinner, and of course we had another fantastic meal there. Honestly, that place has the most amazing french fries. Mmmmm.

Saturday was the big day to head to Cedar Point. Since the park doesn't open up until noon at this time of year, Stef and I didn't hit the road until shortly after nine in the morning. We timed it perfectly, and got to Sandusky right around 12. The park was a little bit busier than we were expecting for an early fall day, but it really wasn't bad at all. The big let down though was that the first thing we saw in line when we were buying tickets was this big sign that said Top Thrill Dragster was closed. I asked the ticket lady if that was true, and when it was going to re-open, and she basically told us that it's closed for the rest of the year. Great timing on our part, I guess. Still, we had a lot of fun going on all our favorite rides, and the weather was pretty comfortable for the whole day. The longest we ever had to wait for anything was an hour at Millennium Force, which wasn't bad at all. Stefy and I were pretty pooped by 5:30 or so, and had gone on everything we wanted to ride, so we hit the road at a pretty decent time.

Our Saturday night back at Stefy's house was pretty low-key. We just ordered ourselves a yummy pizza from Goombah's in Birmingham, and parked it on the couch in front of the TV for the rest of the night. Sunday morning started off pretty early, since we wanted to get a head start, and beat the crowd at Pancake House. They finally have the seasonal pumpkin pancakes on the menu, so I got those, and man they were even better than I remembered from last year. Honestly, just beyond delicious.

After breakfast Stef and I rode out to Grosse Point with Teri and Justin to go meet up with Sean, Marina, and the boys to see their new living room furniture before going to see Colin's first basketball practice. It was great to see everyone for the first time since before leaving for London, and we actually had a lot of fun watching Colin and the other little kids run around and learn how to play basketball (FYI, Colin is only four years old). After the practice we came back to Stef's house, and were ready to hit the road for E.L. when it started raining really hard. Stef didn't want to drive in the rain, so we hung back for a bit, and just had a quiet dinner at the house with Teri.

Classes today weren't too terrible, and I already feel a lot better about the two mid-terms I have on Wednesday. I mean, both of them are going to be challenging, and a real PITA to study for, but I think they'll be manageable. We'll see how it goes. Tonight should probably be pretty low key, since I just want to get a head start on studying, and get to bed early because I didn't get much sleep last night.
