thursday = friday for me
10.13.05 ~ 4:37 P.M.
I can't tell you how wonderful it is to not have
Friday classes. For everyone who does, I'm sorry. Actually,
no... not really. Mo ha haaaaa.
Anyway, classes went well today. In macro economics
we basically went over the entire homework set for this week,
which means that I should do pretty well on it. Screenwriting
was a lot of fun today because my two partners Kendra and Duane
had to finally do their table readings, which meant that I got
to go up their with them and read lines, but I wasn't the one
in the hot seat talking about my script. I think both of them
are doing really well on their screenplays, so it was fun to
get up front and do a reading with them.
Work was more of the same today, but at least
the office wasn't so dead today. I printed an another assload
of the newsletters today, but after finding out that we need
to print about 2,600 and not just 2,000, that meant that I probably
won't finish with everything until tomorrow. Oh well, at least
it's looking good. I've already gotten a few compliments on
this quarter's edition. You can read it here.
Well, Stef and I are talking about going out for
dinner tonight. We'll probably end up at Chang's, but I think
we'll just get something light because we're both trying to
eat a little healthier. Stefy just wants to go out because she
got her hair and nails done today, and I'm happy to oblige.
I like to show off my girl.
gray day
10.12.05 ~ 3:33 P.M.
What a blah day. Very fall. I'm already
sick of the weather.
Anyway, since I already wrote this post, and then
accidentally deleted it, I'll keep this short. My comm class
just met for a lab session today, and it was pretty pointless,
as usual. I feel bad for our UTA Danielle (Stef's old roommate),
because she tries so hard to make these things interesting,
but it's always a futile effort.
I met up with Stefy after class for a quick lunch
at Brueger's, but since we got a late start, we both had to
leave after just ten or fifteen minutes. My micro econ class
was a real snoozer today, but that's nothing new. I guess I
got some good notes down, but nothing earth shattering happened.
Work was VERY slow today, since everyone was in
Detroit for a board meeting. Still, I got a bunch of our newsletters
printed. Hopefully we'll manage to get these things in the mail
by Friday, while it's still October.
Tonight is probably going to just be a quiet night
at home with my girl. I think Stefy and I are going to cuddle
up in front of the TV, and turn our brains off for a while.
I don't even have any homework to do -- including the next ten
pages of my script -- so at least that's good. Tomorrow will
probably be another low key night at home, but this weekend
should be a LOT of fun. Sir Paul McCartney on Saturday... I
absolutely can't wait!
man, i'm stupid
10.11.05 ~ 2:24 P.M.
Well, dinner over at dad's was nice last night.
This morning was Stefy's day to help get the girls up and around
for school/day care, so it just made sense for us to also make
last night a dinner night at dad's. Basically Sherry is out
of town, and dad needed an extra hand with the girls since he
has to work early in the morning, and being the sweetheart that
she is, Stef volunteered to help. What a gal!
Anyway, I was gonna stay over and keep Stefy company
after everyone else went to bed early last night, but I had
to leave at 9 so I could get back to the apartment and work
on my econ homework. Well, fast forward to class this morning,
and it turns out that the homework I was up late working on--and
struggling with more than usual--isn't even due until Thursday
because we haven't covered some of the material yet. So, I'm
basically a big idiot, because I wasted all of that time, and
now I have to go back and fix it anyway. Stu-pid.
Other than that though, today was a pretty typical
Tuesday. We just did some more table readings in screenwriting,
and I spent most of my time at work dealing with the newsletter
printing. Nothing too exciting going on.

10.10.05 ~ 8:38 A.M.
Two amazing concerts in one weekend, and tickets
were only $15 and $10, respectively. It's a rough life. Friday
night was Marian McPartland and Dave Brubeck at Wharton. It
was a very jazzy evening, indeed. My mom, Stefy, and I all really
enjoyed the show. I was especially pleased that Dave closed
the show with a rousing rendition of "Take Five",
which was capped off by a short little solo performance of "Lullaby,
and Goodnight." Man, it's just amazing that two people
in their mid-to-late 80s like Dave Brubeck and Marian McPartland
who can barely walk or talk are still able to sit there and
wail on the piano like they can.
Saturday morning my mom and I had a nice leisurely
breakfast at my apartment before finally venturing out for some
shopping. I ended up picking out some nice, soft pillows for
my couch to match the new ottoman, and a few other odds and
ends at Linens 'N Things. It was a productive outing. Anyway,
I dropped mom off at the apartment in the middle of the afternoon
so I could go meet up with Stef, Sean, and Marina at the Irish
Pub at Eastwood for a late lunch. The Southers were in town
for Sean's weekend business class at MSU, so it was nice to
see them for a bit. I don't think we've ever actually spent
any time with them where it was just the four of us, so it was
nice to finally do something like that.
After our lunch Stef and I went back to her apartment
and killed some time there for a bit before Stef's friend Sara
showed up for the Rufus concert. Since Stef's other friend Nolan
was running a little behind, the three of us decided to pass
the time at the Meridian Mall. Of course, we started off at
the GAP, which led to a funny little episode. Per usual, Stef
was fully decked out in Gap gear when we went into the store.
One of the managers complimented Stefy on her new jacket, and
after talking for a minute, noticed all of her Gap accessories.
She basically came right out and offered Stef a job during the
holidays, but since Stefy figured her mom would go ape on her,
she had to decline. Still, she was really excited to get an
offer like that on the spot, so I think she might apply in the
spring when there's more free time.
We pretty much left the mall after poking around
the Gap (and getting ice cream, of course), and headed back
to Miss Spiro's apartment to meet up with Nolan. After chatting
with him for a quick minute, we headed out to Wharton for the
show. I was a little surprised by how many more people seemed
to be at the Dave Brubeck concert the night before, but Rufus
still managed to fill up most of the lower section in the Great
Hall. Now, I'm not that familiar with Rufus Wainwright,
but I recognized more songs than I thought I would, and had
a really great time at the concert. Rufus is a fantastic piano
player, but his voice is even better live than on his CDs, which
is always cool to see. Stefy, Nolan, and Sara all seemed to
really enjoy the show too, so I was glad that we were all able
to go.
We started things off yesterday morning on the
right foot by heading over to Flap Jack for a big-ass breakfast
with my mom. This was my first time at the Frandor Flap Jack,
so it was nice to finally make it over there. I decided to give
their pumpkin pancakes a whirl, even though I have already experienced
nirvana with the ones at Pancake House. Aside from a lack of
homemade whipped cream to top them with (canned stuff is never
the same), I must say that those were some damn good pancakes.
Mmmmm. After a nice breakfast with mom and Stefy, we went back
to the apartment so mom could pack up and hit the road for grandma's
house.
Stef and I had a somewhat lazy afternoon. We did
venture out for a movie at NCG though. We saw Wallace and Gromit's
Curse of the Were-Rabbit, which was really cute, despite
all of the annoying kids in the theater. Stef and I also did
some shopping at Best Buy and Bed Bath and Beyond after the
movie. I finally broke down and bought season four of Curb
Your Enthusiasm, and got a few more odds and ends for the
apartment at BB&B. It was another successful shopping outing,
I would say. The rest of the evening was pretty low key. We
watched about a hundred episodes of "Made" on MTV.
It's amazing how the hours can roll off the clock in front of
the TV. I guess I forgot how much fun it is to be lazy and just
spend a good chunk of your day watching mindless television.
Ahhhhh.
