man, i'm an old man

// zLife // permalinkOkay, I'm officially an old man.
Last night Stefy and I sat down at about 8:30 PM to watch this week's episode of 24. It was great (of course), but I was starting to feel a little drowsy by the end of the show. After it was over, we decided to watch one of the Wonder Years episodes that my Tivo had snagged last night.
Quick sidenote: this new network, Ion, has started running Wonder Years re-runs, which has been wonderful. After all these years, it's still one of my all-time favorite TV shows.
Anyway, we started the episode, and I started nodding off on the couch. No big deal, I thought. I usually take a little nap after work, and I figured I would perk up in a few minutes. Well, next thing I knew, it was 10 PM, and I had been out for about a half hour. No matter what I did, I just couldn't wake myself back up.
At this point, Stefy was about to head out for a birthday party for one of her friends from the Vagina Monologues, so she was already packing up to leave. She basically guided me into my room to tuck me in, and I swear I was out before my head hit the pillow.
Good Lord, if I can't even stay awake past 10 PM on a Friday night, how lame is that?
Anyhoo, fast forward to today. We're going to pack up and head to Stef's house this afternoon to celebrate her brother Sean's birthday. I think we might be going to the Red Wings game tomorrow, so that should be fun.
Have a good weekend!

// zLife // permalinkIs it possible for a week to be going by really fast, and not really having a lot going on at the same time? That's basically where I'm at right now.
Oh, and yeah, this weather has been lovely. I didn't think I would have to break out my boots again, but here I was tonight, throwing them on on the way out to my dad's house for dinner.
Let's see... anything else?
Idol was pretty horrid this week. The results show is on right now, but I'm telling ya.... Sanjaya will be safe once again. Dude's going
all the way.
Anyway, that's it for now. Have a good rest of the week.
happy birthday, mom!

My dad found this comic today, which seems appropriate, since it's my mom's birthday. I never actually got a note like this in my lunch box, but it definitely sounds like something my mom could've sent me.
Anyway, happy b-day, mom!
weekend update: easter edition

Well, there's not a lot left to report on that I haven't already written about.
This morning we got up early to go to 9:30 mass, then we took off for brunch at this local Italian joint in Grove City.
We came back to the house after our meal, and did the usual thing where we all have to go find our Easter baskets (which had been conveniently hidden in various places throughout the house). As always, mom loaded me up with lots of great candy, and couple nice presents.
After the basket hunt, we all came downstairs so my mom could open up her birthday gifts. Dan got her this really nice necklace that my mom had told him she wanted. I gave her an MSU sweatshirt and a gift card to Macy's so she could buy a new purse (after Stef and I had an unsuccessful outing last Wednesday). Well, it turned out that one of the gifts my grandma had sent was actually a new spring purse, so I guess my mom can go get herself something else with that gift card.
Once she was done with the gifts, we just sort of sat around and chatted for a while before I had to pack up and hit the road by about two o'clock.
The drive back to Lansing was pretty uneventful. Once I unloaded my car, I pretty much had to head right back out to do some much-needed grocery shopping, but other than that it was a pretty low-key evening.
Anyhoo, that's it for now. I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!
