It's Stefy's big day! I'll have a boatload of pictures to share in the next day or two, but in the meantime, here's the
photo series from my graduation a year ago.

Just saw this from the
Gang Green blog:
It seems Michigan State's second round appearance in this year's NCAA Tournament coupled with no early defections and a solid recruiting class has made college basketball experts take notice.
A pair of national college basketball writers - ESPN's Andy Katz and Sports Illustrated's Luke Winn - have Michigan State ranked No. 10 in their pre-preaseason rankings.
You can read the SI story
here, and the ESPN post
here.
We're still not sure how painful the football season will be, but 2007-2008 will be a good year for MSU basketball.
GO GREEN!

checking in...
05.03.07
// zLife // permalinkOy, it's been a busy week!
My last three days as a full-timer with the Trust Fund were spent at the Affordable Housing Conference. You can read about the whole thing
here,
here, and
here. I took today and tomorrow off since I had a little extra vacation time to burn.
There wasn't a whole lot going on today. I took a drive down to Jackson to visit my grandparents for lunch, which was nice. My grandma has been having some health issues lately, and I kind of wanted to check in to see if she was okay. She's having a procedure done at Foote Hospital tomorrow, so hopefully that'll help take care of things for her. Other than that though, it was just nice to see them for a bit. Brian was there too (he was on his way home to Pennsylvania), so it was good to see him as well.
The rest of the day was pretty low-key and relaxing, which is exactly what I needed.
Tomorrow is Stef's big day... she's graduating from college! I think the weirdest thing for me isn't that she'll be done with school, but rather that I simply can't believe it's been a year since I graduated from MSU. Time flies.
Not really sure what's on the agenda for the weekend yet, but hopefully I'll have some more down time before starting my
new job on Monday. I'm
really excited about the whole thing. Should be fun.
Anyway, that's it for now. Have a good one.
ch-ch-ch-changes, part 2

// zLife // permalinkOkay, so enough
beating around the bush. Here's the big news... I got a new job. I'm really excited about it, it's the sort of thing I've always wanted to do, and my first official day is one week from tomorrow.
For professional reasons, I'd prefer not to really get into the details about it here, but if you want to know more, feel free to
shoot me an email and I'll be happy to fill you in. Let's just say I'm one small step closer to becoming Michael J. Fox's character from
The American President, which has pretty much always been my dream job.
The rest of the good news is that I'll be staying onboard with the Trust Fund on a part-time basis, and will continue to manage their website and write the newsletter. This June marks six full years of working for the Trust Fund, and as you can imagine, it was a really tough decision to leave. The organization has been incredibly flexible with my schedule over the years, and I'm obviously very fond of all my coworkers, so it's a relief to know that I won't be leaving them entirely.
Stefy, my mom, Dan, my dad, and Sherry have all been really supportive throughout this whole process, which I really appreciate. I'm clearly excited about this new endeavor, but it's always reassuring to know that my family supports me too.
So yeah, that's the BIG news... 2007 is shaping up to be a pretty great year.
drew stanton drafted by the lions

Does anyone else feel sorry for this kid? I mean, he was probably going to struggle to make it in the NFL no matter who drafted him, but after being picked up by the hapless Lions in the second round of the draft, his pro career is already doomed.
Michael Rosenberg of the
Free Press seems to agree, calling Stanton a "dud." Yikes. Anyone else taking bets on how long it takes for him to end up in the arena league with
Jeff Smoker?
