friday i'm in love
Last week felt like it would never end, and then this week totally flew by.

The new job has been a blast so far. Every day keeps getting better and better. I mean, I'll be honest... I'm exhausted by the time I get home, but it's all been worth it so far.

On a somewhat unrelated note... I miss my girl!

Stefy was in Chicago today with her dad to scope out DePaul, and it sounds like it went really well. She's at the Piston's game against the Bulls tonight (lucky!), but after almost a full week of not seeing each other, I just really miss my Stefy girl!

I'm not sure if I'll get to see her anytime soon, but I was listening to BZPVIPCD, Vol. 16 tonight, and got track three stuck in my head:

east lansing art festival
artfest_web_banner2007

In case you didn't know, the 44th annual East Lansing Art Festival is this weekend: Saturday 10am-6pm, Sunday 10am-5pm.

It's funny, I've never spent a nickel on anything at the ELAF, but I still try to go every year. It's just always fun to walk around, check out the booths, see the people, and chow down on some yummy ethnic grub.

My mom and Dan will be in town again this weekend, so it'll be fun to go with them since they haven't been in years.

Anyhoo, if you live in the Lansing area, be sure to check out the festival.

i miss using a mac

I really don't mean to keep complaining about silly little things relating to my new job. In fact, the new gig is going great. There's been lots of exciting things going on, and I think I'm finally settling into a good groove with the day-to-day stuff.

So really, all that's left is for me to whine about not getting to use a Mac at work anymore.

Seriously, I don't know how you PC people can stand it. No Exposé, not many keyboard commands, the ridiculous security warnings, the terrible user interface... the whole Windows OS is just a friggin' mess compared to OS X.

I mean, I'm slowly but surely getting used to using a PC again on a daily basis, but that doesn't mean I have to like it.

dispatches from munchkin land
Pasted Graphic

I just got the word that Morgan will be playing a Munchkin in All-of-us Express Children's Theatre's upcoming production of The Wizard of Oz.

I don't think there has ever been a role more perfect for this girl.

The show will run on July 27-28 and August 3-4, 2007, so it's still a ways off, but you can get the full scoop here.

CONGRATULATIONS, MORGAN!

Another piece of exciting news... I've been informed that Kyra will be graduating from pre-school on May 31.

Man, these kids sure grow up fast.

it was a very long week
It was a very long week, and I'm exhausted.

I spent most of Friday finishing up stuff for Stef's graduation party and Mother's Day. Lots of card signing and gift wrapping.

My mom and Dan got to my place at around 9:30, so I stayed up for a while chatting with them. It's always nice to catch up with them after we've gone several weeks without seeing each other.

I hit the road for Stef's house at around 10 on Saturday morning. The drive was going pretty smooth until I hit the construction on I-96 between Webberville and Fowlerville... and again near Wixom when three lanes merged into one. Man, what a nightmare. Luckily, I was in a pretty good mood, and eventually made it to Stef's without pulling my hair out.

Everything for the party was basically ready by the time I arrived, so I just tried to stay out of the caterer's way while they finished setting things up.

It was a pretty modest crowd (maybe 40 or 50 people), but everyone had a lot of fun. I was really glad that (some of) my family was able to make it. My mom and Dan had swung through Jackson on the way to bring my cousin Jessi, so I was glad she was able to come. As expected, my sisters had a blast playing in the pool and playing with some of Stef's younger relatives.

The party started winding down at around 5:30 or 6, but my dad, Sherry, and the girls stuck around for dinner after just about everyone else had left. We all had a lot of fun, and I was glad that they were able to stick around and spend some time with Stef's folks.

This morning I pretty much had to get up and hit the road by about 11 so I could make the drive to Jackson for our Mother's Day lunch at Outback. My mom, Dan, grandparents, Aunt Julie, and her family were all there, and we had a really great meal. We sat around and chatted for a while after lunch, but a lot of us had to hit the road for other Mother's Day obligations.

I made it to my dad's house by about 2:30 and spent a good chunk of the afternoon over there so I could see Sherry and Marilyn for Mother's Day.

So yeah, here I am at 9:30 tonight, and I feel like I could go to bed right now. Man, what a week.
