What should you look for when choosing an alcohol treatment center?

The first thing is to do when considering which alcohol treatment center you would like to use is a credentials check.  Is the center licensed to operate as an alcohol treatment center?  Ask questions like, “How effective is the program?” and “Does the center have statistics for their success rate?”  A qualified center will be upfront with all it’s important information and treatment options.  Most centers will also provide a list of details or “extras” that their center offers that you can’t get at every facility such as The Ranch.

Types of treatment centers

Recovery.org is a great resource for information about finding the right Alcohol treatment center to meet your individual circumstances.  Since treatment centers vary as much as the patients who need them, there is no one “best” treatment center.  Each treatment center has it’s own values and methods for reaching a successful outcome.  Each prospective patient needs to find the fit that is best for their own recovery success story.

For example, The Ranch treatment center offers special amenities such as equestrian therapy.  The Ranch claims “Our approach, while different from many traditional programs, is valued by the many substance abuse treatment centers who actively refer their clients to us for ongoing treatment, because our program builds on our client’s previous recovery work in powerful ways. As we support our clients in continuing and deepening their use of 12-Step sponsorship, meetings, and step work, we encourage them to broaden their focus to explore how they are creating every aspect of their lives, and take responsibility for creating a life of personal empowerment and fulfillment.”

Meridian Treatment Solutions in Florida resembles a condominium more than an inpatient rehabilitation center.  Their site offers encouragement to those looking for their services. “we believe that addiction is a disease that centers in the mind.” Located in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, Meridian Treatment Solutions offers you a safe, supportive and structured setting to begin your residential inpatient treatment program. While there, you will receive ongoing treatment from professional clinicians that is unique to your specific needs. An individual care plan will be created and implemented throughout your stay to help you move towards the ultimate goal of being self-sufficient, sober, and an active and contributing member of society. The Meridian Treatment Solutions is non-secular, but will gladly help you support your religious beliefs by taking you to houses of worship, etc.

What about free services?

If you don’t have the option of choosing from one of the luxury inpatient facilities, there is still hope.  The Substance Abuse and Mental Health  Services Administration (SAMHSA) offers a free service to help match patients to the facility that best suites their budget.  http://findtreatment.samhsa.gov  offers help and hope to those struggling with alcohol addiction.  No one, no matter their financial standing, has to live with an alcohol abuse program, everyone has a chance to get and stay sober.

Another option would be to apply for a rehabilitation scholarship.  Certain charities offer a second chance to those with addictions and sponsor their rehabilitation costs.  Some of these are Christian organizations and some are social organizations but many will judge your eligibility off of your income and the severity of the situation.  Most faith based centers will have scholarships for those that meet their financial criteria and agree to their methods of treatment.  The best way to find out if you qualify is to search and apply.  Even if you do not qualify for free treatment, many treatment facilitates will offer their services on a sliding scale based on income.

Choosing the right spot for you

The most important thing to remember is that no matter which center you decide to attend, the outcome should be the same.  The centers will work with you on therapy and recovery giving you the best chance to stay sober in the future.  The right facility will make you feel welcome and it will be a safe haven for recovery.  Everyone deserves a chance to belong and to get their life back from addiction.
